Lokala teaches real conversations in local speech. To get better at knowing when you're ready for a harder exercise, the app can send how your practice went to our server.

What the app sends

The app never records or sends audio of your voice: only the text the phone's own speech recognition produced.

Why

To learn which exercises are hard, and to predict better when a learner is ready for the next step. We don't sell it, share it or use it for ads.

Turning it off

In the app, go to Settings and turn off Share practice data. Nothing more is sent after that. The app works the same either way.

Deleting what was sent

Deleting a profile in the app removes the words it wrote or said from our server, including its answers on any screen flagged on the phone. How its practice went stays, with nothing in it you wrote. A note written on a flag belongs to the phone, not a profile, and stays. Starting a profile over keeps its earlier practice too, so we can see how learning goes the second time.

To have everything deleted, email hello@lokala.app and we'll delete everything your phone sent. Practice data is kept until you ask us to delete it or the project ends.

The waitlist

If you leave your email on this site, we use it to send you early access and occasional news about Lokala, like new languages and launches. It's kept apart from practice data, never sold or shared, and every email has a link to unsubscribe. To have your email deleted, write to hello@lokala.app.

Where it's kept

On a server we run, sent over an encrypted connection (HTTPS).
